The Volkswagen Bora, also known as the fourth generation of the Jetta, was produced between 1998 and 2005, positioning itself as a compact family sedan.

The Bora was available in two body styles: a four-door sedan and a five-door estate (Variant). Its design highlighted a distinct identity from the Golf IV, although they shared the same platform.

The estate version, marketed between April 1999 and December 2004, offered additional cargo space and more generous standard equipment compared to the Golf Estate.

Engines available on the Volkswagen Bora

The engine range for the Volkswagen Bora included a variety of petrol and diesel options:

Petrol: 1.4-litre I4 16V; 1.6-litre I4 8V and 16V; 1.8-litre I4 20V, including turbo versions; 2.0-litre I4; 2.3-liter VR5 10V and 20V; 2.8-liter VR6 12V and 24V.

Diesel: 1.9-liter SDI and 1.9-liter TDI in various power configurations.

Engine power ranged from 75 hp for the 1.4-liter engine to 204 hp for the 2.8-liter VR6 version.

The Bora was equipped with 5- or 6-speed manual transmissions and 4- or 5-speed automatic transmissions (Tiptronic), depending on the engine. Most models had front-wheel drive, but some versions, such as those equipped with VR6 engines, had 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
